ReplyDeleteThere was a birthday party that I attended when I was about 5years old. It was for my nanny's birthday and it was a dress-up! The photos are so funny - my poppy was dressed up as a flasher with balloon naughty parts, my Aunt and Uncle dressed up in the opposite sex and I was little red riding hood!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Patterns Only!
ReplyDeleteMy funniest birthday memory was my son's first birthday this year. I made him a little cake to celebrate with our family and he tasted it and cried. The cake was quite nice, I just don't think he was ready for the sugar rush. It was quite amusing to watch him shove cake in his mouth whilst tears streamed down his cheeks. Yet it can't have been that bad.. he continued to eat it all up! :)
My funniest birthday memory goes back to when I was a child. Mum made this awesome cake in the shape of a house. She thought it would be a good idea to put a cotton ball on top of the chimney to look like somke. Of course she then put a candle next to the chimney and the cotton ball caught on fire. Needless to say I won't be trying that one for my daughter's birthday any time soon!

ReplyDeleteI think one of the funniest, and quite embarrassing birthday moments for me was my oldest daughters 3rd birthday. Her candles kept being blown out by the wind, and he daddy kept saying 'oh bugger'...they blew out one more time and she stomped her foot and shouted "Oh Budder!!!" Some people laughed and some just stared with very round eyes...it was very funny!
The funniest birthday celebration I remember was a friend's surprise 30th. They had told him it was a friends' 40th to get him there, and he was a little confused when he got there, as they had hired out a children's indoor play centre as the venue. What a surprise when he found out it was HIS birthday.
ReplyDeleteIt was hilarious watching 30 or so adults jumping on the jumping castle, climbing the structure and slipping down slides....and it got funnier as the night went on and more alcohol was consumed.
But the FUNNIEST part of the night was when my husband, who is about 6'5" was climbing up in the structure, and got stuck. Well and truly stuck. It is obviously made for little people, but most of us could squeeze through. He couldn't and ended up having 6 grown men pulling from one end, and pushing from the other to get him out. Finally sending him down a slide head first.
I still giggle when I think of it. Thanks for the memory. I had forgotten about it.
K xx
I was working in Paris before my 30th Birthday, and was really looking forward to spending such a big occasion in such a spectacular city (with my parents flying over to see me). Unfortunately, a couple of weeks before my birthday, the company I worked for moved us all to Bunbury, in Western Australia. The guys from work still took me out for a night on the town, and I ended up dancing in a nightclub in Bun in the wee hours with the guys, including a Dutch consultant in his late 60s. It wasn't what I had planned, but was still a fun, memorable birthday.
ReplyDeleteHsppy 1st Birthday, Patterns Only.
When I was a young teenager I dressed up as a clown & performed at my young cousin's party, I loved it. I did silly acts & made balloon animals (not good one of course hahaha. All the kids at the party had a ball & so did I.
ReplyDeleteHappy 1st birthday!
ReplyDeleteA happy birthday memory was the surprise we sprung on my Mum for her 80th birthday last year. Without her knowing, her twin sister flew over from the UK. She stayed with me until the big day. All the time we were wondering if it was such a good idea, and would we need the paramedics on standby, not to mention the subterfuge involved in keeping the secret! As it turned out, she was overwhelmed, very, very happy and many tears were shed. Luckily, no medical assistance was required! Incidently, I made them each a photo memory quilt, with photos of them and their families going back to when they were babies!
My Happiest Birthday Memory was This year. My husband took the day off and he and our 3 children took me out for a lovely picnic by the water, we played in the playground, flew a kite and laughed like we hadn't for a long time. At home they surprised me with a lovely home made cake and we curled up on the lounge as a family and watched home movies.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't cost anything and was the most relaxing and enjoyable birthday ever.
As i had 4 siblings we only got to hold a birthday party every 4 years. I remeber my 10th birthday party the most. i had a fair few friends around and were playing with my brand new baby born doll that i recieved for my birthday. i dont know why but that is the only birthday i really remember.
ReplyDeleteI remember being super-happy at my 11th birthday as mum made me one of those "Dolly Varden" cakes with the big cake skirt and a doll on top, all decorated in pink and white.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite birthday was my 40th... it was an eighties theme and we all dressed in bright colours and big hair and played 80's music. I have always loved my name (Katrina)and have a particular fondness - some would say obsession - with the letter K... I am always looking for the perfect K necklace. On this party night I was surprised with a GIANT K necklace my niece had had cut from wood and painted silver and attached to a heavy chain. Although it was quite heavy and the K 'pendant' was like 25cm x 20 cm... I wore it all night, and it still hangs on my craft room wall. A thoughtful joke present and I love it! Happy Birthday to you.. and what fun to read everyone's memories :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Happy first birthday!
ReplyDeleteThe only birthday memory I remember is when I was very young & mum was in hospital. She'd arranged for a neighbour to surprise me with a Dolly Varden cake; the cake was a cream dress & the doll had brunette hair & to this day I haven't tried to make one myself.
ReplyDeleteMy 49th we celebrated by getting married in the backyard......a suprise wedding. A great night for all
ReplyDeleteMy favourite birthday is my daughters BIRTH day. As is every Mums I suppose. A day that I will never forget to see her beautiful little face, hear her wonderful little voice and make it all worthwhile
ReplyDeleteMy happiest birthday was my 30th. My dad and grandmother organised a lovely afternoon tea. My birthday is in November and it was a perfect spring day. I was surrounded by my children and family. It was the best day playing childhood games and lots of yummy food. Oh and don't forget my cake, a yummy choc mud with strawberries that my Miss 5 still talks about how delicious it was nearly 2 years later. Perfect afternoon delight!
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable birthday was my 32nd. My first daughter was a week old and I was in the throes of the baby blues. I'd been up all night with her and when my husband got out of bed at 6am I gave him to her and dashed off to the shower without a word. When I got out and had pulled myself together he appeared with my present - a beautiful solitaire diamond ring! Of course I burst into floods of tears and he thought I didn't like it LOL. It was a replacement for the engagement ring I lost years before. We really couldn't afford it but it was so thoughtful and I treasure it so much. I spent the rest of the day being pampered while I looked after our newborn, it ended up being a wonderful day despite all the tears!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday patterns only!
ReplyDeleteMy funniest birthday memory was making cakes of Ernie and Bert from Sesame Street fo the 2nd birthday of a friend's son.
He loved them and when it came time to cut the cake he cried "no cut Ernie, no cut Bert" so we all sat there looking at the cake but not eating it.... til he went to bed!
The best memory I have of anybody's birthday was for my husband's 25th. I'd spent weeks arranging with family to give me his birthday money and fixed it with his boss to have the day off work. He woke up that day with no idea that I'd planned a massive day out in London for him. We got the train, ate peanut butter cups for breakfast, went to the natural history museum and on the London Eye and Madam Tussauds and then before we came home we met up with his two best friends who happened to live in London who he hardly ever sees and had a nice meal. It was such a surprise for him and a great day out for both of us. We will both always remember it well.
ReplyDeleteHappy 1at Birthday Patterns Only - hope you had a cake because you always have to have a cake for your birthday !!!
